New ideas in marketing for small businesses Vacation
By: J D Moore
Two seconds after Halloween, it seems that all retail stores put their Christmas decorations - trying to capture as much of the holiday market as possible. typical ways that retail stores use to capitalize on the holiday are overtime and sales. Fine. Today I want to give you an early gift by giving you new ways of thinking about holiday promotions.
Many people are tired of holiday crowds, which is reflected in the growth of online sales and lower sales of traditional retailers. There also appears to be a tendency to buy fewer gifts, but these gifts tend to be more high-ticket luxury items.
In the type of marketing that we should all do, we start with the customer in mind. What do we know about the people of this time of year?
Time is a commodity - there are too many things to do and too little time. People have more errands than usual. People are under a tremendous amount of stress. People tend to clean and decorate their houses. These are some factors affecting people during the holiday season. I'm sure you can think of many others. Take those things into consideration, and take the position of being a donor.
Here's an idea I've ever seen (if I want credit if you use it). If you own a store, offer free gift wrap - nothing new. As people get their gifts wrapped, they get a free massage chair? You could partner with a local spa, or even a massage school, which could also give each customer a promotional coupon. You save your time customers, take their stress and create a marketing partnership to merge with the spa.
If you are in a household services company, offering additional services to the winter for your customers to save time. Provide a household free holiday. If you're not in the business of cleaning - again team with a cleaning service.
Promotional gifts are great. Giving free Christmas trees - depending on where you are, you could buy a few hundred to $ 10 each. The agreement could be - spend $ 100 at home without a tree. Give the turkey, turkey or complete - many grocery stores have this promotion.
Everyone betrays calendars, aim for something different, but still useful. How about ice-scraper if you live in the North? Blankets, sweaters, hats - all promotional items are good when the weather turns cold.
holiday cards are great. People love them and display them. Hardly anyone sends Thanksgiving cards, certainly reflect this. In this politically correct era (GASP), you must be sensitive to people's religious sensibilities. Send Out Cards Happy holidays and Merry Christmas Cards do not - unless you are absolutely sure of your client Christmas party.
If you have any type of retail business, consider adding on gifts that could be used as a second donation. A florist can include a free gift wrapping ornament with a certain level of purchase that can be sent to a different address. Two gifts for the price of one. Buy one get one free offers are great for the holidays.
Use your creativity this holiday season and reflect on how you can solve the problems of your customers.
