NASA has used the technology in electronic commerce?
NASA was established over 50 years and was a
world leader in studies of our planet. In October
2005 NASA decided to share their series of stunning
'Blue Marble images. The satellite photos were divided
in 12 months and gave a detailed overview of
a full year in the life of our planet.

Each image took 10 gigabytes of hard disk space. To
able to understand what is actually 10 gigabytes, you can
think that each image is composed of 5000 photos taken
with a typical digital camera.

Two years later, they are probably even greater
zoomable images ever seen on the Internet. Thank you to
Advanced Zoom technology, it is possible for NASA to manage
and the study of our earth images using any Internet connection.

In recent years it has become possible to buy
expensive products on the Internet. Buy
everything from clothes, cars with expensive furniture.
Unfortunately you still have to take a decision for
product based on one or a few images - often in poor
quality.

Several studies have shown that the most important
barrier of modern e-commerce is the lack of quality products
pictures - more specifically the lack of sufficient detail image
or resolution. Customers can not "experience and feel" the
products in the same way as they have been holding them.

The explanation is that high quality images take a lot
disk space and increase download time. There is
inappropriate to allow Internet users to wait several seconds
for high image quality every time the user views a
product.

Another obstacle is the increasing use of mobile devices
such as PDAs and mobile phones. It is still too hard to make a
decision for a product on a display 240 x 320 pixels on a
phone if the product image is 1680 x 1050 pixels.

But how can it be possible to zoom in even large images, as

Connecting webmasters have trouble controlling the size of
their web images?

By combining and re-scaling of existing technologies to other
goals and objectives, it became possible to see and
almost feel the little details of any e-commerce products in the
same way that you can study every detail of even large
satellite images.

E-Consultant Sonja Jacobsen explains the controversial combination
of NASA technology and web technology exists "as a means of
move forward in a competitive market "and" almost all
e-shops will be able to present their products with
zoomable pictures in 2-3 years with similar
technologies. "
